Fetal Homicide Laws:
Should the killing of a fetus in a violent crime be considered a homicide? Or would such laws bestow legal rights on unborn children that could endanger abortion rights?
* Suppoerters of fetal homicide laws say: Fetal homicide laws recognize that there are two victims, not one, when a pregnant woman is attacked. Because they target only violent crime, fetal homicide laws do not pose a threat to abortion rights, as critics claim.
* Opponents of fetal homicide laws say: Such laws pose a threat to abortion rights. By recognizing fetuses as beings with legal rights, such laws lay the groundwork for future assaults on abortion. While curbing violence against women is a worthwhile goal, lawmakers should push for laws the place the emphasis on protecting women rather than elevating the legal status of the unborn.
What do you think?

Re: Fetal Homicide Laws:
I think it should be considered a crime against two, the woman and the unborn child.
I dont believe in abortion, but do understand its use, in cases of rape, incest and danger to the mothers life. But when someone beats or hurts a woman and it causes her to lose her child, then by all means, I think it should be considered a crime.

Re: Fetal Homicide Laws:
i agree that beating a woman should and always be a crime. and i also understand the use of aboprtion. this question is kind of hard, because you have to think about does the unborn child deserve justice for it's murder. or should it not count against the child because it isn't born yet.
i personally want to say it should count for the death of the baby. but then the religious part of me says "how cruel" because it is still a life, an unborn one, but one never the less.

Re: Fetal Homicide Laws:
Ok, this isn't even an "issue." It's not about the rights of the unborn. It's about murder. You murder the baby then you've murdered the baby. There is no arguing against this. It's murder pure and simple.
