Understanding... the hypercrits in religion.

Okay, I believe everyone, everywhere is entitled their choice of faith. That everyone everywhere is entitled to practice that faith, without another bashing on them for it.

What I dont understand is all the hypercrites I know... mmhmmmm. It aggrivates me to, I personally dont have a religion of choice. I have a personal thing with God all on my own. I talk to the big man on many ocassions... one on one.

But then I have these people I know and they do go to church (I have no prob with anyone who attends a service of any kind). on Sunday and Wednesday and live their lives in the complete opposite direction the remainder of the week.

By that I mean, they sleep around, they drink, they curse, they def dont follow the law of man... and yet they condemn me for not going to church. Needless to say, I def dont act like them... so to me theyre hypercrites... they tell me Im going to hell etc etc... but, why they do worse than I and feel they are better, because they do attend a service... and ask for forgiveness. Well I am sorry, I may not attend service, but I dont go do one thing knowing its wrong and then go confess my sins to make it all okay.

Ill never understand that... I seriously doubt that I ever will.
Anyways this was just a rant so to speak lol. Getting it off my chest.

Has anyone else here ever had a run in of the same situation or has someone bashed on you for your religious/ spiritual beliefs?
Just curious.

yes i have had the same thoughts.

just keep this in mind...the bible and i will find it and quote it later..because i hate to misread or mis-speak what is in the bible, says to stay clear of people who say they are christians but do not act as christians.

imagine that...we can dine with sinners, but not phoney christians..god was trying to tell us something.

people like that irritate me, because others will dudge christianity on the behaviors of those who do not do the right thing.

attend church whenever you want...or not at all..the purpose for church is fellowship in god. if you can find that somewhere else. then i guess it's ok. i don't want to lay down any rules..lol.

whatever you do in life..as long as it is between you and god..then you are good.

the bible also tells us that we will be surprised who does and doesn't go to heaven...so if someone tells you that you will go to hell because you don't attend church..they are insane.

all you need to go to heaven is salvation. beleieving that jesus died for your sins is the only way. so let them go to church..and be good on the sabath thinking that is the way...bible says you don't get there by deeds alone. only through christ. so if you have that..then more power to you girl!!!

sorry if i got too preachy. :nthej:

Re: Understanding... the hypercrits in religion.

What a very real and honest and interesting topic of discussion.

I come from the standpoint of being a Christian and one who goes to church and yes, one who sins and sins and sins.

Oneleeheather, ya know, so many feel the same way as you do and without getting negative, there are so many people out there who give things a really bad name. Whites who make other whites look horrible, blacks who make other blacks look horrible, southerners who....you get the picture.

See, somewhere along the line (and I don't know who started this big fat lie) someone decided (and it became a popular misconception that has been handed down ever since) that Christians are "supposed" to be "good". That we aren't supposed to do anything wrong and if we do...well then we're hypocrates.

The reality is this. In the beginning of the book of Genesis, Satan came to Adam and Eve, tempted them and they fell. To understand the full ramifications of this one act, it would take far more than one post to lay out and I would never assume that you don't know the "Whole story". You see, God created man in HIS image. Man was perfect, righteous, and was to subdue all the other living, creeping things upon the earth. And then comes this snake, plants a seed of doubt and viola the whole "sudue" thing went out window and so did our wholeness and COMPLETE fellowship with God in Heaven. God laid curses upon man and woman that we're pretty heavy duty. Now "fallen", man has separated himself from the perfect nature we were created in. Our ability to "subdue" is no longer there without God. Which means in short and very simply is that ALL of us, Christian or not, have the ability to get trapped by sin. We all are now living under a sinful nature because of the fall in the garden.

That is some background as to how and why all men are in the same boat here in this world. Attending church service or "acting good or holy" a few days a week has nothing to do with truly being a Christian. But we as man get this idea in our heads that because one does these things that one must also be "living right". Not necessarily so.

There are many Christians who are struggling with their individual sins. There are many Christians who are disillusioned and somehow think that "acting the part" on a part time basis will take care of things.

As Lynn said, "Jesus is the only way!" John 14:6 in the new testament says, "I am the way, and the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by Me." Romans 2:8 tells us that "For by grace(strength) you have been saved through faith; and that is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;"

Should Christians be doing good works? Yes they should as the 2nd chapter of James tells us however seeing faith and "goodness" will only come if one is TRULY living for God, with the Holy Spirit dwelling inside because goodness is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

Now...here's where it gets tricky. For one who has given his life to Christ and received Him as Lord and Savior, they begin a path of drawing nearer to the Lord. God doesn't ask us to "get right" or change before we come to Him or in order to come to Him. He says, "Come as you are". He tells us, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." in Matthew 6:33.

As a man journeys this path towards God, things are tough let me tell you. You still sin and the enemy comes against you even harder. Anyone who has given their life to Christ has a spiritual bullseye on their back and the enemy is aiming with all his might in every way, shape and form possible to drag us away from the Lord. Sometimes...he wins...but only if we let him.

If man, in and of himself, would truly seek God for understanding, he would have it regarding these things. More people would be far more concerned with God's approval or disapproval than of mans. You see the one who goes into a church two or three times a week, acts righteous and comes home and indulges in the passions of his flesh and sinful nature willingly is no more a true Christian than Satan himself. That is not judgmental, it is what the Bible says in many places and ways.

A true Christian will never achieve full righteousness or "perfection" here on this earth. That will only come once we arrive into the Kingdom of Heaven. None of us has it all together and each of us needs God's mercy, forgiveness and grace EVERY SINGLE DAY. Anyone who should tell you different has been fooled into thinking that they themselves have the power to walk alone without God. To walk without the power, love, forgiveness, mercy or grace of God in our lives and expect to get to heaven is NOT POSSIBLE for any man and John 14:6 says that straight up...straight from the "horses mouth". Those are God's words, not mans.

Jesus came bringing love. He loved everyone and was truthful with everyone. He put on a show for no one and He gave everything He had by the power of God's spirit in order that you and I could know and experience in our lives the same. Jesus said in John 14:12 that anyone who believes in Him will do the same works as Jesus did and also do even greater things because He was going to return to heaven, be with God the Father and send His Spirit to dwell within those who believed. Therefore the man who would believe would be empowered from within by the Spirit of God. It is only through this that any man can be changed and be likened unto God in how we live and how we treat others and how we behave and respond to God.

No man can do it by His own hand...none of us!

After having said all of this...let me as a friend encourage you to look to God for His help when dealing with these kinds of people that are under dillusion. These people do not need anger or negativity or harsh judgments or name calling. They need the honest to goodness love of Christ being shown to them and washing over them like a flood until finally it washes away what is false within them and they can truly, from their heart, see the love of Christ as it truly is and how their lives are to be lived.

God bless you....always....

Did anyone ever tell you you're a good speaker? Anyway, I only have one thing to add. God will NEVER put a trail before you that you cannot overcome.

I know how you feel "onleeheather!" I belong to one of the most bashed on churches! I'm a Christian. But I'd prefer not to disclose which it is.... Anyways, we have pretty strong beliefs and someone always seems to be telling me that I could do this better, or so-and-so said you shouldn't be doing this, blah, blah, blah......But I've learned the best thing to do is to just ignore them! I think that is the same thing for people who don't think you are "religious" enough. If they are going to continue to say things like that, maybe you shouldn't be their friends.

Just a thought! :jutrj:
