$220 Million Powerball Ticket Bought In Idaho

UPDATED: 5:28 pm EDT May 29, 2005

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Someone in Idaho is $220.3 million richer after Saturday night's Powerball lottery drawing.

A ticket bought in Idaho matched all five numbers and the Powerball to win the multistate drawing Saturday night, lottery officials said.

If the winner opts for a lump-sum check, it will be written for just over $125 million.

Lottery spokeswoman Sue Dooley said another 29 people matched all five numbers. Those tickets are worth $100,000. For choosing the Powerplay option and matching all five numbers, one winner will get $400,000.

Dooley said that anyone who wins a large cash prize on a lottery ticket should sign it right away, then talk to a lawyer before claiming the prize

Idaho Man Wins $220.3 Million Powerball Jackpot

POSTED: 12:45 am EDT June 16, 2005

BOISE, Idaho -- The manager of a fitness center in Idaho has a much healthier bank account.

Brad Duke was the winner of last month's $220.3 million Powerball jackpot. It was the second-largest single-ticket Powerball prize.

Duke chose to remain anonymous after winning the drawing last month. But his name was reported on the Web sites of two Boise television stations Wednesday.

The 33-year-old will take the lump sum payment of about $80 million. The state of Idaho will receive a lump sum state income tax check of about $10 million. The convenience store where Duke bought the ticket gets $50,000.

That is just something they do for the stores that sell the winning ticket. I dont know if all states do that or not.

11 Workers Win $15 Million After Playing Wrong Lottery
Group Regularly Plays MegaMillions

UPDATED: 10:06 am EDT June 23, 2005

HOWLAND, Ohio -- It was a $15 million mistake.

Eleven dental workers at Warren Family Dental in Howland had been playing the multistate MegaMillions lottery for a year in hopes of winning big.

This past week, one group member who usually doesn't play mistakenly bought an Ohio Super Lotto ticket for the group.

All six of the numbers were drawn Saturday, making the dental workers winners of the $15 million jackpot.

Nick Grano of the Ohio Lottery Commission said some of the women came to the regional office in Youngstown Tuesday evening to claim their prize but their names will not be disclosed publicly until all the winners come into the office.

The dental office plans to schedule a news conference once all the winners have filled out the proper paperwork at the Ohio Lottery Commission.

The ticket with the winning numbers -- 4-11-13-22-34-40 -- was sold at the Giant Eagle store in Howland, about 15 miles northwest of Youngstown.
