Crappy Customers

I work with American Express Gift Cards Division for 2 months. And hell, it was good but also a bad experience.

First wave of calls, balance inquiry, transaction history then somewhat, general usage inquiry

Second Wave around 11:00am to 2:30pm here comes the ones complaining about their declined transactions. One is because their trying to use their gift cards with amount greater than their balance. Then try to explain they will get more upset and will talk to our supervisor and will be recieving the same same same messages Dammit!

Third wave, here comes the difficult situations, some stores call us for voiding a transaction, calling for voice authorization (This process is very very difficult). Then they will get angry for taking so much time. I'll ask for their number, they will say, "In just a second..." then here comes 30 minutes of silence...

Working in a call center is a hassle and a opportunity as well, it is just a rewarding experience.

customer service is hard to deal with regardless. some people think that because it's a call service and you don't actually have to deal with people in person then it will be easier...but my best friend found out that was far from the truth...she worked with the comcast call center...liked it at first then went insane...she had to eventually leave the job.

hang in there. emoticon

My Wife works at a call centre that gives out health information. It is supposed to be for things that are not serious enough for a Doctor or hospital such as problems with medications or if you have only mild symptoms of something.

Instead though, she gets people ringing up with the symptoms of a heart attack who do not want to admit to themselves that they are in danger and refuse to have an ambulance sent for them and perverts who are too embarrassed to got to the hospital because they have got something stuck in or on themselves during intercourse

She's been there nearly three years and works mostly 4.00pm til Midnight.

She can sympathise with all those that have gone crazy after working at a call center.

What really blows is just like any other job she still has to meet targets and take 11 calls an hour even though she may have to deal with mental callers threatening suicide and send ambulances to those that are really ill etc.
